The Perspectives Podcast

Jul 8, 2021

Segun, long-time friend and returning guest on the podcast joins. He shares the story of his family winning the lottery and immigrating from Nigeria to America, the process of learning things about the culture and social interactions as a child, growing in his appreciation for his culture, as well as what he thinks Nigerian and American culture could learn from one another.

We discuss giving our parents credit for their incredible sacrifices, immigrating to another country potentially being the toughest thing a modern person could do, your biggest asset being your ability to build relationships, the importance of reaching out to immigrant communities and trying to make their assimilation process as smooth as possible, how sarcasm effects immigrants, how inside jokes solidify friendships, commitment to building bridges, exposure leading to expansion, and the principle of antifragility.
